A holística de Vitrúvio

Resumo

Este ensaio comenta basicamente quatro capítulos, entre sete, do ‘Livro Primeiro’ do tratado de Vitrúvio De Architectura - Libri Decem. Isto é devido a seu caráter básico e introdutório, com paralelos na atualidade. Os quatro capítulos escolhidos são, conforme a tradução do latim para o espanhol, de Blánquez (1997): capítulo I, O que é arquitetura e que coisas devem saber os arquitetos; capítulo II, Do que consiste a arquitetura; capítulo III, Das partes nas quais se divide a arquitetura e capítulo IV, Da eleição de lugares sãos. Busca este ensaio mostrar a visão holística1 e contemporânea contida nas preocupações vitruvianas com a arquitetura da antigüidade clássica, bem como, tratar de valorizar os desígnios vitruvianos, ainda latentes e praticamente imutáveis - valores de teoria arquitetônica que foram redescobertos no Renascimento -. Esta análise considera que ainda se assume, tanto nos estudos teóricos das disciplinas de arquitetura como na prática profissional, os fundamentos vitruvianos de solidez, utilidade e beleza, ou, em bom latim, firmitas, utilitas e venustas2 . Esses argumentos tornaram-se linhas iniciais para os tratados arquitetônicos europeus, renascentistas e pré-modernos.

Abstract
This essay comments on basically four chapters, among seven, from ‘Book One’ of Vitruvius’s treatise De Architectura - Libri Decem, This is due to its basic and introductory character, with parallels on the present time. The four chosen chapters are, according to the Latin to Spanish translation, from Blánquez (1997): chapter I, what is architecture and what things must know the architect; chapter II, Of what consists architecture; chapter III, Of the parts in which is divided the architecture and chapter IV, Of the election of healthy places. This essay tries to show the holistic and  contemporary vision contained in the vitruvian preoccupations with the architecture of the classic ancient time. It also tries to value the vitruvian purposes that are still latent and practically unchanged - values of architectural theory that were rediscovered at the Renaissance. This analysis considers that it is still assumed both in the theoretical studies of the disciplines of architecture as in the professional practice the vitruvian fundaments of solidity, utility and aesthetic, or, in plain Latin, firmitas, utilitas e venustas.are. This arguments have become initial lines to the Europeans, renaissants and pre-moderns architectural treatises.
